Pact is the Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television, the UK’s trade association that represents independent production and distribution companies working in film, television, animation, children’s, and digital media.

They advocate on behalf of producers — negotiating terms, promoting the sector’s interests, and supporting the business side of content creation.

In the context of BECTU, Pact is the organisation we negotiate with to agree on fair working conditions and pay for freelance crew across the UK. The BECTU x Pact agreements (like the TV Drama Agreement and the Major Motion Picture Agreement) are the result of this collective bargaining process.

These agreements aim to strike a balance between the commercial needs of production companies and the rights, safety, and wellbeing of crew. They’re essential tools for creating a fair, consistent working environment on set — and Pact plays a key role in that process.
